Statement of Need:
Everyone worries to some extent. In moderation, worry can provide a motivating, positive force. However, excessive worry is inhibiting, destructive, and exceedingly uncomfortable -- and can be extremely difficult to stop.
Course Overview:
In this study, Dr. Hallowell will help you understand and deal with excessive worry -- whether it occurs in your clients (adults and/or children) or in yourself. He provides a psychological and biological framework for understanding how worry weaves its way into most people`s lives. You will learn to assess the nature and intensity of worry in yourself and others as well as the most powerful medical and non-medical treatment strategies available, including a review of current recommended medications. Dr. Hallowell discusses a variety of non-medical interventions, such as EMDR and selected cognitive therapy techniques that have been found particularly useful in reducing chronic worry.
